Majajan The Queen Of Spice

Nestled in the heart of Birmingham at Unit 2a, 153 Bordesley Green Rd, Majajan The Queen Of Spice lives up to its regal name, offering an explosion of bold Pakistani flavours in a warm and spirited setting. From the moment you step inside, there’s a magnetic energy-an unpretentious charm that blends the homestyle comfort of desi food with a youthful, urban vibe. It’s women-owned, unapologetically authentic, and buzzing with a crowd that knows good food when they taste it.

Whether you’re dropping by solo for a quick bite or settling in for a lively dinner with friends, the menu makes it almost impossible to choose just one dish. A great place to start is the Desi Paratha Breakfast-a beloved choice among regulars, featuring freshly made aloo parathas paired with rich, spiced sauces and a piping hot cup of Karak Chaii. If you’re after something more substantial, the Chicken Karahi is the real deal-fiery, aromatic, and served in traditional style that feels like it came straight out of a Lahore dhaba.

Now, for anyone who thinks breakfast should only be eaten in the morning, Majajan is here to change your mind. Their Desi Omelette in Bun paired with Chai Tea is an anytime-of-day favourite. It’s casual comfort food at its finest: fluffy egg, laced with coriander and green chilli, tucked into a soft bun with just enough kick to wake your taste buds up. And let’s not skip the Pakistani Spice Omelette in Bun-it’s spicy, savory, and satisfying in a way few street food-style sandwiches can deliver.

Spice lovers shouldn’t miss the Biryani-a dish that’s equal parts fragrant and fiery, each grain of rice carrying the bold essence of slow-cooked meat, saffron, and a unique blend of herbs and spices. It’s not the type of biryani you can rush through. It demands your attention, and rightly so.

Feeling snacky? The Paneer Tikka is a vegetarian standout-charred cubes of soft cheese marinated in a spice mix that hits all the right notes. For those in the mood for something fried and fabulous, the Chicken Wings here are known to convert even the pickiest eaters. Smoky, saucy, and slightly addictive.

But perhaps the real hidden gem of Majajan is its dessert game. It’s easy to overlook sweets when the savouries are this good, but don’t make that mistake. The kitchen whips up indulgent desi-style desserts that are perfect for rounding out a meal-or even stealing the spotlight. Add in the ambiance of live music on selected evenings, and suddenly your quiet dinner turns into an unexpected celebration.

Another layer to Majajan’s charm is how it balances tradition with accessibility. It serves halal food, caters to vegetarians, and opens its doors for late-night food cravings-which makes it a real lifeline after long shifts or impromptu hangouts. Whether you're ordering for delivery, picking up a takeaway, or dining in, there’s a strong sense that the kitchen is run with passion and purpose.

It’s also a place that respects individual diners. Good for solo dining, the layout and service create a non-intimidating space where you can enjoy a meal without feeling rushed or overlooked. Add in the comfort of watching a game on the screen while sipping Desi Tea, and you’ve got yourself a casual, flavour-packed pitstop in the middle of Birmingham.

Majajan The Queen Of Spice stands apart not just for its food, but for the spirit it carries. It’s not trying to be fancy or over-polished-it’s real, confident, and grounded in flavour. For those who crave authenticity with a twist of fun, this spot delivers every time.

We recently tried the Aloo Paratha and Lamb Paya breakfast from Majajan. The Aloo Paratha was generously sized and filled, making it a satisfying meal—though a bit on the expensive side, the portion and filling made it worth the price. The location is along a busy road with roadside parking, which can be a bit hectic. As for the Lamb Paya, it was just okay in terms of flavor, not standing out as much as we'd hoped. However, the service was friendly and efficient, which made the experience pleasant overall.

Visited early morning (8:30) midweek, and got all food as takeaway, so cant comment on atmosphere. The staff were very helpful, friendly, and well coming. Ordered, paratha, Aloo paratha, Saag, China, and Karak Chai. We also got a side of Achaar (pickle). The tea was on point. It is not the powered variety, and is made traditionally (I believe) - the tea will form a thin skin on top. In hindsight I should have asked if they did unsweetened Karak chai, but thats on me. Both paratha were made fresh at time of order. They are a good size. Just like elders would make at home. Had a decent amount of butter taste in them, and tasted amazing. Between the two I would say the Aloo paratha is king, but only just. There isnt much between them, both were good. The Saag was tasty, best complimented with the Aloo paratha (in my opinion). With the regular Partha, I found the saag to be a smidgen too chilli (however that is my palette, my wife does not share this opinion, she found it perfect). The chunna, is better with regular paratha, and has a beautiful spicy (not chilli) mix, perfectly complemented with the pickle. You are free to choose level of chilli to suit your personal taste. I paid tad over £22 and found the meals to be good value for money. Bottom line, I would return again, and wish this establishment all the best for the future. What they do, they do it very well. I love that the food is freshly made to order, this does mean you have to wait, but I would rather wait and get fresh over not wait and get food that is not made to order fresh.

I have got to say WAH Majajan WAH the food, service and ambience is spot on at this lovely little gem in Birmingham . I had the Desi Panjabi Nashta Aloo Paratha Karak Chai and Paratha Chana for my kids as Aloo Paratha was spicy for my 5 and 2 years old kids. , it was absolutely divine. All Sisters staff at Majajan was efficient and friendly and suggested options as in when I added the simpal paratha she goes try our Aloo Gobbi (Cauliflower) paratha. I will definitely be back soon. I want to thank the whole Majajan Team for going above and beyond to ensure that our kids first Desi Breakfast experience was perfect. I can’t say enough good things about the service at Majajan. The staff is incredibly accommodating for minor changes and goes the extra mile to ensure guests are happy. Bravo! Their genuine hospitality and impeccable service made all the difference. We had spicy omelette, aloo paratha, plain paratha, paye and naan with karak chai. Food was all freshly prepared, Food was amazing, so much taste and flavour in everything, even the chutney and achar were so good! Portions are really good too! Best desi breakfast in Birmingham. Abit on the pricey side, cost us £25.80. The seating upstairs is abit tight especially when all tables are being used. Food did take about 20mins but can’t complain as it was all freshly made! Definitely recommend and will be back soon to try other things! UPDATE: Went a second time and took some family, the place was empty so expected a quick turn around however we waited 53mims for our food. Really ruins the whole experience no matter how good the food is!

The Karak chai was absolutely delicious as were the parathas, spicy omelette, achar, chutney. I highly recommend this place. I loved the posters and other decorations of Pakistan.
